Trinity Church is an important historical landmark in Milwaukee. Constructed back in the 1800's the church has survived natural and manmade destruction until a fire destroyed the interior and most of the roof. This led our Historic Preservation Studio to develop a proposal focusing on adaptive reuse. Trinity Church will be the site of a new dance studio for the community.

Our design proposal reveals the importance of old and new. Through a series of glass boxes and catwalks, we created interesting moments where the user can experience the existing historical building up close and personal. In the center of the church is a performance space enclosed in a glass box. The remainder of the required building program along with the parking has been placed in a secondary building that connects the church through two main catwalks.
